The Bible is a library of 66 books, all inspired by God but written by numerous men and women all with varying experiences of life. Psalms is the longest book with 150 chapters and in Psalm 42 the writer was sincerely seeking after God but had an aching void. He questions himself, as if depressed:
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me?
What was his answer?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.
HOPE in God. The writer came to realise The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, a prayer to the God of my life. Psalm 42 verse 8
HOPE in God. You cannot improve on it.
