As I write at the beginning of April, some sobering figures about coronavirus in the UK confront me: 25,150 people infected;1,789 have died! It is little wonder, therefore, that
the Government has continually been restating its key message:
STAY AT HOME : PROTECT THE NHS : SAVE LIVES.
At Easter, however, Christians remember one Person who did NOT stay a home – the Lord Jesus Christ. His home was idyllic – Heaven itself! He knew that all men and women were born sinners; therefore, they needed a Saviour from sin. Only He could be their Saviour, because He was without sin. Graciously, therefore, He left His home and came to die to take the judgement for their sin.
He died for sinners, but He also rose from the dead the third day and returned to His home in Heaven. He wants to take those who trust Him as Saviour to share His home with Him. Once there, we will never want to leave – we will never have to be told to STAY AT HOME!
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures … But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verses 2-4, 20.
