Live in the light!

Have you noticed the days getting longer?  I look forward to each extra minute as the dark of winter gives way to the sunshine and flowers of spring.  G.K. Chesterton wrote, “The issue…is between light and darkness and everyone must choose his side.”  That is so true today.

Each of us must choose either to live in the dark – hidden inside, behind screens or TV,  immersed in fear, in gloom – or in the light.  For the light is warming up the soil to bring life to tulips and daffodils, to pussy-willows and maple trees.  Light is also the source of beauty.  A rainbow is sunlight filtered through rain drops. We see blue sky thanks to light waves entering earth’s atmosphere and being scattered.

The psalmist wrote, The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? Psalm 27 verse 1. That choice is ours today – to dwell on the dark fear around us, or to come to the Lord Jesus. He wants to dispel our fears and bring us the beautiful, life-giving light of hope that comes with His presence.
