It is interesting to observe that certain statements creep into a nation’s vocabulary in a time of crisis that we have rarely heard before. To hear politicians in the UK continually stating, ‘I want to level with you’ is unusual. Without wishing to appear over-critical, it would be fair to say that we often feel that we rarely get the truth from them.
It is refreshing, when we come to the Bible, to discover that God always ‘levels’ with us, so let us listen as He does so:
-
‘The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked’, Jeremiah chapter 1 verse 9.
-
‘For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God’, Romans chapter 3 verse 23.
-
‘There is none righteous, no, not one’, Romans chapter 3 verse 10.
-
The soul who sins shall die’, Ezekiel chapter 18 verse 20.
-
‘And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many’, Hebrews chapter 9 verse 27.
-
‘This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners’, 1 Timothy chapter 1 verse 15.
-
‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved’, Acts chapter 16 verse 31.
God has ‘levelled’ with us. Will you ‘level’ with Him?
