Our initial reaction to this heading might well be that it is the wrong way round! Naturally speaking, we talk about people passing from life to death; yet, when we come to the Bible we discover that it is the correct way round. We learn that we were born, spiritually, ‘dead in trespasses and sins’, Ephesians chapter 2 verse 1. This meant that we were heading to a lost eternity, without hope. However, in wondrous grace and mercy, God made it possible for each one of us to pass from death to life by sending His only Son into the world to be our Saviour from sin and death.

Jesus said, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life’, John chapter 5 verse 25. On another occasion, He said, ‘I am come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly’, John chapter 10 verse 10. Have you passed from death to life through faith in the Lord Jesus?
