Many of us will have said, at some time, ‘I will BELIEVE it, when I see it!’ The disciples of Jesus SAW many amazing things as they followed Him for three years throughout Palestine, e.g. blind, deaf and lame people healed, lepers cleansed and the dead raised to life. They SAW these things and BELIEVED He was the Son of God.

However, they later saw something they hoped they might never see, i.e. His death on a Roman cross. However, after three days, all except one of them, saw Him alive again. The missing disciple, Thomas, would not believe them, when they declared, ‘We have SEEN the Lord’. He replied, ‘Unless I SEE . . . I WILL NOT BELIEVE’. Eight days later Jesus appeared to them again and Thomas was there: He SAW and BELIEVED! Jesus said to him, ‘Do not be unbelieving, but BELIEVING . . . blessed are those who have NOT SEEN AND YET HAVE. BELIEVED’, John chapter 20 verses 24 – 29. Later on, Paul, the apostle, wrote: ’If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and BELIEVE in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved’, Romans chapter 10 verse 9.
