Death – Absent from the body!

Most of us will have spent time living in a tent. However, few of us regard it as a permanent home. We erect it, dismantle it and eventually move on to a more permanent dwelling. The apostle Paul refers to our body as a tent that will eventually be taken down, 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 2. Christians look forward to this event, because they know that once they are ‘absent from the body’, they will be ‘present with the Lord’, 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 8. They will then be in ‘a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens’, 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 1. In another place Paul speaks of ‘the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body’, Philippians chapter 3 verses 20-21.

For many, death is something to be feared; however, for those who have trusted Jesus Christ as their Saviour, it has been transformed into a bright prospect, knowing that, ‘when their tent is taken down’, they will be with, and like, the Lord Jesus in heaven, His Father’s House. If you have not already done so, our prayer is that you will come to enjoy this same prospect through trusting Christ!
