… so read one of the UK’s national headlines recently. The news was that with the relaxation of lockdowns there can be a measure of normality again, we can meet up with family and friends and enjoy a time over Christmas. We will all value this no doubt, but sadly we know it could all change at the last minute.

What can never change, however, is the wonderful news that CHRISTMAS SAVES! The CHRIST of Christmas came for that very purpose, His own name proves it:

‘And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will SAVE His people from their sins’ Matthew chapter 1 verse 21.

^‘For there is born to you this day in the city of David a SAVIOUR, who is Christ the Lord’ Luke chapter 2 verse 11.

Jesus Himself explained this was the very purpose of His being on earth  ^‘And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to SAVE that which was lost’ Luke chapter 19 verse 10.

‘Therefore He (ie Jesus) is also able to SAVE to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them’ Hebrews chapter 7 verse 25. Able to SAVE. Due to the completeness of the work of the Lord Jesus on the cross by satisfying God’s holy claims against our sins the Lord Jesus can SAVE you, and that today. CHRIST SAVES!

Whatever your Christmas, make sure it is a time when you are brought to know the SAVIOUR of the world.
