As I write this meditation, my wife and I are awaiting the arrival of our eighth grandchild.in Spain, where one of our two sons lives. There is not much that I can tell you about the expected new arrival but I do know that the child will be a boy. The ‘mystery days’ of not knowing the sex of a child before birth seem to be very much a thing of the past!
However, as I turn in the Bible to the OLD TESTAMENT AND LOOK BACK TO WHAT THE PROPHET ISAIAH SAID ABOUT THE BIRTH OF THE COMING MESSIAH, I AM AMAZED HOW MUCH CAN BE LEARNED ABOUT HIM FROM THIRTEEN VERSES:
‘For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given’ Isaiah chapter 9 verse 6.
HE IS REFERRED TO AS ‘A CHILD’
-
-
‘CHILD’ speaks of His BIRTH
-
there was a point in time when Jesus ‘became flesh and dwelt among us’, John chapter 1 verse 14
-
Paul, the apostle, declared ‘God was manifest (open to sight) in the flesh’, 1 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16
-
-
HE IS REFERRED TO AS ‘A SON’
-
‘SON’ speaks of His POSITION and STATUS – He is ‘the only begotten of the Father’, John chapter 1 verse 14 .
-
details regarding the birth of my grandson and how he will develop are unknown but I am sure he will receive much love. He will, no doubt, be set a good example and there will be much prayer offered up to God for him. However, he will not be perfect and he will make mistakes. Sometimes, sadly, he might disappoint us.

How unlike the Son of God! Even before his birth it was said of Him, ‘He shall not fail, nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in the earth’. Isaiah chapter 42 verse 4.
He is the Saviour we can trust every step of life’s journey.
