Interesting facts about ‘baby births’ have emerged from various studies that have been undertaken
around the world. Apparently, Christmas Day is the least likely day of the year to be born!
Christmas Day birthdays, therefore, are often regarded as ‘special’. December-born babies are
likely to live the longest. NHS England staff are expected to welcome around 1,400 babies into
the world on Christmas Day. Over 170,000 staff will be on duty to assist in this huge undertaking.
Who can doubt how ‘special’ these babies and the day will be for this myriad of participants?
Many new parents will be highly appreciative of the efforts put in by workers at all stages to
support their ‘special babies’!
It should lead us to stop and consider the amazing ‘miracle’ of the birth of the most ‘special baby’
that has ever come into this world. Jesus was born to be our Saviour from the sin that was leading
us to a lost eternity. Indeed, through the means of Mary, God brought Him into the world, born of
a woman and born of the Spirit of God. The eternal Son of God stepped into time and became
truly Man, without a trace of sin to procure salvation for us. His birth was truly unique – no other
can compare with Him.
Prophets had foretold the place of His birth, Micah chapter 5 verse 2, and His Names, Isaiah
chapter 9 verse 6. Nothing was left to chance or to human input, He was ‘verily, God; yet,
become truly human’!
