I’ll be home for Christmas, you can plan on me
Please have snow and mistletoe and presents by the tree
The sentiments of this song are shared by so many this Christmas-time. It says a lot about ‘home’ and it says a lot about ‘Christmas’. ‘Home’ is often where our family is and God had a wonderful plan in setting the first of His creation, Adam and Eve, in a family environment to raise their children (Genesis chapter 3). God set up that first ‘home’ to be a place of love and security.
‘Christmas-time’ should concern Christ. It is wonderful to recall ‘ And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Saviour of the world’ 1 John chapter 5 verse 14. The Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, left His Father’s home, heaven, with all its glories and came to this sad world and the home of his earthly parents, Mary and Joseph. And why? ‘The Father has sent the Son as Saviour of the world.’
Sadly, many will not be able to be ‘home’ this Christmas-time for many reasons. However, all of us can know Christ with us, wherever we are. Before the birth of Christ, the gospel of Matthew records in chapter 1 verses 21-23: ‘And she (Mary) will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name EMMANUEL,” which is translated, “GOD WITH US.”’
EMMANUEL … GOD WITH US. May this be your joy always, wherever you are. You can find out so much more by reading this story in the Bible. Please contact us and we will gladly send you a Bible and other helpful literature. We will pray for you. Come back again for another Message of Hope.
