The Gospel of Luke, chapter 2, records the circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus
‘Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
How sad that, at such a momentous time in the history of this world, we read ‘there was no room for them in the inn’. What would it have taken to make a little space for such a tired and needy couple, let alone their new-born Babe? No room.
No room for the Saviour at Bethlehem’s inn, only a cattle shed;
No room on this earth for the dear Son of God, nowhere to lay his head.
Only a cross did they give to my Lord, only a borrowed tomb.
Today He is seeking a place in your heart-will you still say to Him, ‘No room’?
Interestingly before the Lord Jesus returned to heaven, He told His disciples He had room for them with Him in heaven ‘Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also’ John chapter 14.
Christ has made room for us in heaven, will you make room for Him today? Or will you still say ‘No Room’?
