We would have little difficulty in convincing people today that we are living in increasingly uncertain times. Indeed, there is very little that comes from our political leaders today about which we can me absolutely sure. Even things that are indisputable are tinged with uncertainty, e.g. it is an indisputable and encouraging fact that a vaccine is now available to counteract Covid19; nevertheless, there are many questions that are unanswered in relation to it. We cannot be certain as to whether it will need to be repeated in a person’s lifetime or if it is possible for a person to be reinfected.

It is reassuring to know that when we come to the Bible, there are NO UNCERTAINTIES. As far as our need of a Saviour from sin is concerned, the statements could not be more clear and certain:

‘This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world TO SAVE SINNERS’, 1 Timothy chapter 1 verse 15.

‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved’, Acts chapter 16 verse 31,

‘Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved’. Acts chapter 4 verse 13.

‘For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus’, 1 Timothy chapter 2 verse 5.

So, take heart! There is real hope to be found in the midst of all the uncertainty of today! Pick up a copy of the Bible and read it – you will discover that you can build your life on a sure and solid foundation that will stand the test of eternity and that foundation is a Person – Jesus Christ!
