The Lord God Omnipotent Reigns!

… so reads some of the concluding verses in our Bible:

‘And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory …’ Revelation chapter 19 verses 6-7.

In these possibly unprecedented times of challenge and uncertainty, whether personal or political, the Bible is a beacon of Hope: ‘Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!’ The God of heaven, the Lord God, is:

  • Omnipotent: all power is His, there is nothing He cannot do;
  • Omniscient: all knowledge is His, there is nothing and no-one He does not know;
  • Omnipresent: He is everywhere, there is no place He cannot be.

David, the psalmist, was overwhelmed when he realised the greatness of God and he wrote of this in Psalm 139. Realising these things David had to bow in worship and say: ‘How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You’ verses 17-18. God thought of David, and He thinks of us too.

Can you be glad, rejoice and give glory to the Lord God Omnipotent? We do pray that you will have David’s confidence and trust in God and know God’s power and presence with you both daily and eternally.
