This is not a question, Hope after death? But a certainty Hope after death! How can you be so sure, you may well ask; how can I have hope after death? Surely this will be worth more than any pleasure or windfall, an eternal hope and destiny. Our reading yesterday was from 1 Corinthians chapter 15:

 “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
verses 54-57

The answer is found in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ; this was no accident, it was all planned and purposed by God. Verses 3-4 read ‘ For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures …’

The plan of God was ‘that through death He (Jesus Christ) might destroy him (Satan) who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage’ Hebrews chapter 2 verses 14-15. Through His death Jesus Christ died for our sins and destroyed Satan; through our faith in Jesus Christ we can be delivered from the fear of death and all its consequences.

Thank God ‘But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.  For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive’ verses 20-22.

So yes, there IS hope after death! But do you have such hope after death?
