No More Tears!

With the eternal hope that the resurrection brings, the Christian can confidently know that one day there will be NO MORE TEARS.

When our first parents disobeyed God in the garden of Eden and sinned, there came much sadness and sorrow and that has remained to this day. Thousands sorrow today and you may be amongst them. None of us are exempt from such pain and loss, whether we think of our dear Queen and her family or dear friends and neighbours with their families, so many tears are shed over loved ones lost. Tears are shed even over families and friends still alive. But God never planned it this way. Such is His care, God knows our tears ‘You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book?’ Psalm 56 verse 8.

Reference has been made this week to the great Bible chapter of hope and resurrection, 1 Corinthians chapter 15:
20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
21 For since by man (ie Adam) came death, by Man (ie Christ) also came the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

Christ makes all the difference. As the Son of God, He is seen as the Christian’s High Priest, ‘we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses’ Hebrews chapter 4 verse 15 or we can read it similarly ‘we do have a High Priest who can sympathize with our weaknesses’. Christ knew what it was to weep tears, whether it was for His own people Luke chapter 20v41, or for a dear, family friend John chapter 11 verse 28. Shortly before His own sufferings on the cross we read of His own private grief and sorrow ‘who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear’ Hebrews chapter 5 verse 8.

Through Christ’s triumph at the cross and His resurrection, death has been defeated and we can receive eternal life through faith in Him. The Bible has wonderful promises ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away’ Revelation chapter 21 verse 4.

NO MORE TEARS. Thank God. May you know His comfort and care today.
