We have considered some deeply disturbing matters in two of our meditations on IRREVERSIBLE things this week. It would only be right, therefore, to end on a gloriously uplifting and comforting IRREVERSIBLE truth! We have thought of the IRREVERSIBLE things concerning the judgements of God; therefore, we have seen that ‘it is a fearful thing it is to fall into the hands of the living God’, Hebrews chapter 10 verse 31. Nevertheless, the Bible teaches us that God is merciful and is ‘not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance’, 2 Peter chapter 3 verse 9. Those who do so will find that His salvation is as IRREVERSIBLE as His judgement.

Personally, I turned in repentance to God and trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour one night, 62 years ago! There have been numerous ‘ups and downs’ in my life since then but one thing has remained absolutely safe, secure and consistent, i.e. my spiritual salvation! It is as secure now as it was on that night, when I first trusted Christ, because it doesn’t depend on me but on Him! It is as simple as this: God has promised that it is impossible for me to lose my salvation. We considered the Book of Life in our last meditation – my name is in that Book in heaven and it will never be removed!

Jesus said, ‘My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow me. And I give unto them eternal life , and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand . . . no one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one’, John chapter 10 verses 28-30. The moment a person trusts Jesus Christ as Saviour, they are IRREVERSIBLY secure!
