Some people would have you believe that the Christian life is an easy pathway to tread; indeed, they portray it as a playground, whereas, in reality, it is a battleground. The Lord Jesus was pursued by enemies throughout His time on earth, so much so that ultimately they crucified Him, even though He never did any sin. Yet, because He was holy and separate from sinners, on the cross He defeated our arch enemies of Satan, sin and death and rose victorious from the dead.
We will face many enemies during our lives as Christians, who will seek to rob us of the enjoyment of our salvation; nevertheless, through faith in Christ, we can overcome them and live a victorious life. One hymn writer expressed it like this:
On every hand the foe we find
Drawn up in dread array;
Let tents of ease be left behind,
And onward to the fray.
Salvation’s helmet on each head,
With truth all girt about,
The earth shall tremble ‘neath our tread
And echo with our shout.
Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory,
That overcomes the world.
The Bible records the words of the apostle, Paul:
‘But thanks be to God, who gives us the VICTORY though our Lord Jesus Christ’, 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verse 57.
