A Verse For Today

‘My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth’ Psalm 121 verse 2.

Some time today, some place today each of us will need help, support, assistance, guidance encouragement. We are thankful for family, friends, Christian teachers and others who are willing to help, but not all will be able to provide just what we need. With the LORD, Jehovah, however, that is different. The psalmist knew with confidence ‘I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth’ verse 1-2.

It is personal help My help, just suited to me.
It is present helpcomes, not will come, not may come; no, it comes and comes now.
It is powerful helpthe Lord, Who made heaven and earth, He is the Source, the Provider.

The remainder of the psalm explains how this Help is more than sufficient: ‘He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.  Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul’ verses 3-7.

And more, praise God: ‘The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore’ verse 8.

This is Help for today, and for every tomorrow we are given. May you know today ‘The LORD is your keeper’.
