“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ” Titus chapter 2 verse 13.
What a wonderful verse for this Monday, and every day in 2022! Praise God He has given us “the blessed hope”. At a time when hopes have been dashed and certainties undermined, God’s words shine all the brighter. This is not just ‘Hope4Bath’, nor hope just for the UK but for all our readers and all elsewhere.
God’s promises and purposes are not limited. We know:
- He includes all: “God our Saviour, who will have all men (and women) to be saved …” 1 Timothy chapter 2 verses 3-4.
- He excludes none: “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” 2 Peter chapter 3 verse 9.
In his letter to Christians Titus speaks of “hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began” chapter 1 verse 2. Such a hope is guaranteed through faith in Jesus Christ; this hope cannot be found in religion and prayers, not in works but in One person only. Our verse for today continues: “Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works”.
Do you know this Saviour? Do you have this hope? Look up today and thank God for such a Saviour and hope for today, Monday, yes and for all eternity.
I am waiting for the dawning of the bright and blessed day,
when the darksome night of sorrow shall have vanished far away:
when for ever with the Saviour far beyond this vale of tears,
I shall swell the song of worship through the everlasting years.
Have a blessed and hope-filled Monday.
