“Prayers … be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority …” 1 Timothy chapter 2 verses 1-2.
Have you prayed today?
Did you remember to pray for your Prime Minister or President today? Your local councillors and Mayor? The Bible clearly teaches us to pray for “all men, for kings and all who are in authority.”
We know how much we appreciate others praying for us, but let us remember how others need our prayers, even though they may not ask for them or appreciate them.
It is interesting that this encouragement, or even command, in the Bible to pray was written by Paul as he was inspired of God. Paul himself suffered much as a Christian, he was imprisoned by the authorities and would ultimately meet the emperor Caesar who would seal his fate; but he still prayed for them. Listen to what he wrote:
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth” 1 Timothy chapter 2 verses 1-7.
Start praying: your country, your leaders need you.
Have a Praying Monday.
