On one occasion, when Jesus was speaking to the Jewish religious leaders, He said of the Scriptures, ‘these are they which testify of me’, John chapter 5 verse 38. These leaders spent a great deal of their time studying the Scriptures but they failed to see that all of them pointed the reader to the Lord Jesus Christ. They would not accept that He was the fulfilment of all the Old Testament types, shadows and prophecies. Their spiritual blindness prevented them from recognizing Him as their long-expected Messiah. They claimed to revere the writings of Moses, who wrote the first five books in the Bible; however, Jesus pointed out to them that they failed to acknowledge that ‘he (Moses) wrote about Me’, John chapter 5 verse 46.
Based upon these statements of the Lord Jesus, we can safely say that, wherever we turn in the Bible, we can see Him. In the following meditations, we will consider a selection of well-known examples from the Scriptures with this focus in mind. Our first example is in Exodus, one of the books written by Moses.

THE LAMB has always been central to God’s purposes; therefore, when we meet A LAMB or THE LAMB in the Scriptures, it will inevitably point us to Christ. Remarkably, our thoughts will be taken from eternity to eternity: from the first book in the Scriptures (Genesis) to the last (Revelation). Let us follow this journey and see where it takes us. We will discover that there are SEVEN STAGES to it. Seven in the Scriptures is ‘God’s number’ and it speaks of perfection; therefore, whenever we discover a lamb in our meditations, we will be reminded of the PERFECTION that is seen in the Person of Jesus Christ!
