2. KEEP IT FROM THE TENTH DAY UNTIL THE FOURTEENTH DAY – Exodus chapter 12 verse 6
- The number 10 speaks of RESPONSIBILITY
- mankind failed to live up to the responsibilities God placed on him – Christ came and fulfilled the Law
- the 4 days could be considered as a combined total, possibly made up of 2 full days + 2 half days. The number 4 may speak of Christ’s time on earth or His 3+ years of public ministry + eternity before He came
- God’s Lamb faced intense scrutiny, showing He was without fault
- Peter described Him as, ‘a Man attested by God to you’ Acts chapter 2 verse 22
- Pilate, a centurion and a thief acknowledged His perfections – God opened heaven and expressed delight in Him
- God said of Him, ‘Behold I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation’ Isaiah chapter 28 verse 16
3. KILL IT AT TWILIGHT, Exodus chapter 12 verse 6
- all that had happened to a lamb up to this point, could not have saved a single household, however perfect the lamb might have been
- the death of a lamb was absolutely essential – blood had to be shed
- a specific time was also given – at twilight – at the going down of the sun
- Christ rode into the city of Jerusalem and was greeted by the crowds on the 10th day of the first month and died on a Roman cross on the 14th day at the very hour when they were beginning to slay the Passover lambs for the celebration of the Feast of the Passover – God’s timing is always perfect!
- the entire congregation of the children of Israel was involved in the slaying of the Passover lambs – the description of it in the Bible is significant: ‘Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight’ verse 6 – as God looked down, He saw just one congregation and one Lamb.
- ALL humanity stands as guilty sinners at the cross; yet, by the grace of God, forgiveness is available to ALL through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.
