I believe many of us have said these words “No one cares”.
Sometimes it’s because we are selfish and want attention. However, more often than not, it is because it is true: those we thought loved us, those we thought were our friends, those we trusted, they have disappointed and failed us.
Our words today actually come from the Bible and were the cry and experience of one man who felt the same “No one cares”. David wrote openly about his feelings in the Bible and in Psalm 142 he admits “Look on my right hand and see, for there is no one who acknowledges me;
refuge has failed me; no one cares for my soul” verse 4.
What does David do? He turns to the God of heaven verse 5: “I cried out to You, O Lord” I said, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living”. Yes, God did care.
When Jesus was here, His disciples said the same to Him as they were threatened by a storm when they were fishing on a lake “Do You not care that we are perishing?” Mark chapter 4 verse 38. Did Jesus care? Yes, He cared. “Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm” verse 39.
Jesus still cares and wants you to know His peace and protection.
Does Jesus care when my heart is pained too deeply for mirth and song?
When the burdens press and the cares distress and the way grows weary and long?
Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares, His heart is touched with my grief
When the days are weary, the long night dreary
I know my Saviour care.
