Thought For The Day: Thank You

Diolch, Merci, Gracias, Ddanke, Grazie, Obrigado, Mam’noon, Dhanyavaad, Xièxiè

Such a simple word, easy to say, one of the first words we were taught by parents and friends.  But why are we so slow to say it “Thank you”?  It doesn’t cost us anything other than recognising some one has been kind or good to us.

In the Bible, the book of Psalms, there are 150 of them, gives us many reasons to say “Thank you” to God:

  • Psalm 92 It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; t To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night,
… For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
  • Psalm 136 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!  For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!  For His mercy endures forever.

Once when Jesus healed 10 lepers, you would have thought all would have said “Thank you” but sadly that was not the case: And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Luke chapter 17 verses 15-19.

One of God’s faithful servants could not stop thanking God for the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ:

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians chapter 9 verse 15.

Have you said “Thank you” today?
