Love is ….
So much will be said today about love, what it is. For some it will be a gift of flowers or similar, for others it will be a meal. For others, perhaps best of all, it will be a simple “I love you”.
A wise writer defined love as follows:
- Love suffers long and is kind;
- love does not envy;
- love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
- does not behave rudely,
- does not seek its own,
- is not provoked,
- thinks no evil;
- does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
- bears all things,
- believes all things,
- hopes all things,
- endures all things.
- Love never fails.
These words are found in the Bible, 1 Corinthians chapter 13 verses 4-8. They are based on God’s love for all of us and wonderfully seen in the life of Jesus Christ when He voluntarily died to bring us salvation from our sins.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John chapter 3 verse 16.
“The Son of God (Jesus Christ), who loved me and gave Himself for me” Galatians chapter 2 verse 11.
Once you have known this love, you will never be the same again.
