Thought For The Day – I Will Fear No Evil

Are you ever afraid?  It is not an unusual experience and it happens to all of us at some time or other.  Sometimes it’s a fear of the unknown, sometimes it’s fear of a person.  David, one of the great writers in the Bible was often afraid but he was the one who said : “I will fear no evil”.

Was David being brave to say “No fear”?

Was he pretending the cause of fear was not there?

Or was there another reason.

David had many reasons to be afraid but he said in Psalm 23 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want … I will fear no evil for You are with me” verses 1, 4.

David knew the Protection and Presence of “The Lord”.  This was divine Protection and Presence.

The Lord Jesus gives His followers the same promise of His Protection and Presence, John chapter 10:

  • “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep” verse 11.
  • “I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own” verse 14.
  • “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” verses 27-28.

Do you know this Good Shepherd? He died for you to bring you eternal peace and joy.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27 verse 1.
