Do you ever think about tomorrow, the next day? Do you ever think about the end of your life? We are wise to look ahead, realising we cannot control our future but we can plan for it.
A wise man in the Bible once said “For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” James chapter 4 verse 14. We see a vapour or steam as the kettle boils, it is seen for just a little while then it is gone. Gone.
And our life is like that, we are here for just a little while and then it is gone.
David, the shepherd king, had confidence in God because he knew he could depend on God all his life and into eternity. David had confidence that God would take care of him “All the days of my life”. And in the next life too.
- “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever” Psalm 23 verse 6.
- “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple” Psalm 27 verse 4.
Who do you trust for “All the days of my life”?
Two little lines I heard one day, travelling along life’s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart, and from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.
