The other names employed in the Bible to describe a CHRISTIAN will give us an insight into the meaning of what it means to be called CHRISTIAN.
- DISCIPLES – the disciples OF THE LORD, Acts 9v1.
- BELIEVERS – ‘And believers were the more added to the Lord’, Acts 5v14.
- CHILDREN OF GOD – ‘The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God’ Romans 8v14
- SONS OF GOD – ‘For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God’, Rom 8v16.
- SAINTS – ‘To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints’, Rom 1v7.
- BRETHREN –‘I beseech you therefore, brethren’ Romans 12v1.
The only scriptural title for an assembly of God’s people is CHRISTIANS!
If we meditate on the terminology above, we will appreciate what it means to be called CHRISTIAN.
