“Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God” Job chapter 37 verse 14.

How we need these words today, just like Job needed them centuries ago as he passed through times of pain and suffering. This Monday take time to “Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God”.

• “Stand still” will give you time to draw near to God and He to you. “Be still, and know that I am God” the psalmist was told Psalm 46 verse 10. God can be known and He is the eternal, unchanging One.

• “Consider” think, ponder, reflect. Pause today, leave behind the challenges and questions for a brief moment and “Consider …

• “The wondrous works of God”. All that God does is wonderful. He made this world in 6 days and all “was very good” Genesis chapter 1 verse 31.

Many years after Job, David was out on the hills of Judea and he was overwhelmed at what he saw, what he considered: “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” Psalm 8 verses 3-4.

David could see “the wondrous works of God” but it puzzled him that such a great Creator God should then think of him: “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” God is the same eternal, unchanging One today and He thinks of you. More, in the person of Jesus Christ, His Son, He has visited you in this world to bring you salvation.

O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder consider all the works Thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed;

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee, how great Thou art, how great Thou art!
