Verse For The Day

I thank God … when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also” 2 Timothy chapter 1 verse 5.

What joy memories can bring, particularly of those who have been influential in our lives and blessed us with God’s truth, teaching us His word. Timothy had a double blessing in his grandmother Lois and in his mother Eunice. Some of us may not have been so privileged as Timothy but someone, somewhere has cared for you to pray for you, to bring you to know the Saviour.

My Sunday School teacher, now long in heaven, used to remind me that my best friends were those who prayed for me; they gave of their valuable time to mention my name to Father, day by day. Thank God today for those who have been a blessing to you and at, the same time, ask God, to whom can you be a blessing? Be a Lois and Eunice to them!

In England this past weekend, we have had a severe and destructive storm and it has been named Storm Eunice. Can you be a storm of blessing to someone today, not causing them hurt or pain, but bringing joy and blessing through Christ to them?

Out in the highways and byways of life, many are weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife, making the sorrowing glad.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love, tell of His power to forgive;
Others will trust Him if only you prove true, every moment you live.

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing, out of my life may Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Saviour, I pray, make me a blessing to someone today.
