“Perfect peace and at such a time” Ezra chapter 7 verse 12.
Everyone should not only wish for peace for themselves but, hopefully, peace for others too. This was true in Ezra’s day over 2,500 years ago and it is certainly true today. “Peace” – if only it could be enjoyed again, if only it would last. We think especially of those in and from Ukraine today with all their pain and loss; let us not forget those too in Afghanistan and Yemen. Let us not forget those where you live, even in your home – and you too. We all need “Peace” – with each other but, more importantly, with God.
Jesus once taught “Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS, for they shall be called the sons of God” Matthew chapter 5 verse 9. How valued peacemakers are at all times, and they share the heart of God Who is the essence of peace.
Wonderfully, at the birth of Jesus the Saviour, the angels praised God “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth PEACE, goodwill toward men!” Luke chapter 2 verse 14.
“PEACE on earth” yes it has been promised and will be eternally enjoyed one day. Firstly, however, it needed the Lord Jesus Who “… having made PEACE through the blood of His cross by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself … and you …” Colossians chapter 1 verses 20-21.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” Romans chapter 5 verse 1.
Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin? The blood of Jesus whispers peace within.
Peace, perfect peace, with loved ones far away? In Jesus’ keeping we are safe, and they.
Peace, perfect peace, our future all unknown? Jesus we know and He is on the throne.
