It is a week since the Prime Minister addressed the nation to unveil the Government’s plan for easing the lockdown restrictions imposed as a result of Covid-19. Since then, the so-called ‘Plan’ has been severely criticised by the media and the public. People are asking, ‘What Plan?’ They were looking for clear guidance on the next steps to take in order to restore their freedom. Instead, they received a lack of clarity and more questions raised than answered.
It is a great relief to turn to the Bible and to discover that God’s Plan of salvation for mankind is absolutely clear. He has just one plan that could not be clearer: ‘repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ’, Acts chapter 20 verse 21. As sinners by nature, we must turn to God and put our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died to save us from our sin. This is the only way that we can obtain freedom from the ‘lockdown’ that sin has brought to our lives. The apostle Peter told his listeners in the 1st century, ‘Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out’, Acts chapter 3 verse 19. This message has never changed!
