“The Son of God … loved me and gave Himself for me” Galatians chapter 2 verse 20.

As things change around us, as people come and go, there is one constant in each of our lives: the love of Christ, the Son of God, and the love of God.

This love is unconditional; it does not require anything of us. It does not demand we change, it does not demand we improve or reform. Whoever we are, whatever we have or have not done, wherever we are today remember:

“The Son of God … loved me and gave Himself for me”.

The writer of this verse for today, Paul, reckoned himself to be worthless, a hater of Christ and His followers, the worst of sinners; but one day the Lord Jesus Christ met him and saved him. Paul never forgot that day, never forgot the Man who saved Him and he lived his life for His glory.

Another time Paul wrote that God “did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Romans chapter 8 verse 32. This week as we approach Easter and remember the crucifixion of Christ, let us remember an action of supreme, sacrificial love. And that is the start of the love of Christ and of God. Let us remember “The Son of God … loved me and gave Himself for me”

Why did He love me, I never can tell; why did He suffer to save me from hell?
Nothing but infinite grace from above could have conceived such a story of love.
Grace, grace, infinite grace, flowing to you and to me;
Grace, grace, infinite grace from the cross of Calvary.
