He Is Risen! (3)

This week, so far, we have seen Jesus raise the widow of Nain’s son from the dead. The Bible tells us that, when he rose, he began to speak – Luke chapter 7 verse 15 – new life gave him A NEW SPEECH TO PRAISE GOD.

We moved on and saw Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead. When he rose, he was bound hand and foot with graveclothes, John chapter 11 verse 44, so Jesus instructed them to LOOSE HIM AND LET HIM GO. New life gave him A NEW WALK TO PLEASE GOD.

New life in Christ will change us, completely!

RAISING OF JAIRUS’S DAUGHTER

Finally, we meet a girl of 12 years of age who died, Mark chapter 5 verses 31-43; she was the daughter of the ruler of the synagogue. He risked the condemnation of his fellow leaders by approaching Jesus. Nevertheless, the welfare of his daughter was of greater importance to him than the approval of his colleagues. His courage and persistence were rewarded. He heard Jesus say that his daughter was only sleeping. Her body was, of course, physically dead but her soul and spirit were not. Jesus had the power to wake her body from sleep, so that she could walk and eat; indeed, she had A NEW APPETITE.

It gives us hope to know that when we die, our body sleeps, our soul goes to be with Jesus and our spirit returns to God from whence it comes. Paul assures us that in a coming day, the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first . Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord, 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 16-17.

Will YOU be there?
