Be kind!

Last week was Mental Health Awareness Week and was an opportunity for the UK to focus on mental health. This year’s theme was kindness, the focus being a response to the coronavirus outbreak, which is having a big impact on people’s mental health. Being kind results in a display of affection, gentleness, warmth, concern, and care. Being kind often requires courage and strength. There have been numerous displays of kindness which have been so overwhelming and, in a sad way, unexpected too.

It should be no surprise that God is inherently kind and has needed no unexpected pandemic to display it: But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life’ Titus chapter 3 verses 4-7.

The command for Christians always is ‘Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you’ Ephesians chapter 4 verse 32.
