The human touch

What have you found hard over these past weeks of lockdown and limited access to so many things? What have you missed most? So many people world-wide are missing that social interaction with family and friends, that hug, that supportive arm to lean on, even that friendly handshake. It is the human touch we miss.

We are told that touch is the language of connection. Now we are realising just what that means. Our brains are geared for such physical contact, with our skin having billions of cells that process information about it. Just one touch …

We shouldn’t be surprised to learn that the God of heaven not only loves and cares for each one of us. The Lord Jesus, God’s Son sent to be the Saviour of the world, has been touched with our need. He can sympathise.

For we do not have a High Priest (the Lord Jesus) who cannot sympathise (or, cannot be touched) with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need’ Hebrews chapter 4 verses 15-16.

Just one touch. May you know His touch today through knowing Christ as your Saviour and Friend.
