It would be remiss of me if I were to think that I could do any better than quote one of the best-known and best-loved Psalms in the Bible, when meditating on the subject of ‘STILL WATERS’:
‘The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; HE LEADS ME BESIDE THE STILL WATERS.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.’ Psalm 23 verses 1 – 6.
These are words that are equally applicable, in both times of adversity and joy! It is as we sit down and meditate beside the ‘still waters’ of the Word of God that we will find the strength to pass through the ‘troubled’ waters that we are often called upon to face.
The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want; He makes me lie in pastures green.
He leads me by the still, still waters, His goodness restores my soul.
And I will trust in You alone, and I will trust in You alone,
For Your endless mercy follows me, Your goodness will lead me home.
