“Pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 17.
Isn’t it strange that Christians are reminded to pray? It is like telling folks to breathe.
Even more strange is that Christians need to be reminded to keep on praying – and not to stop.
It has been well said that “the greatest tragedy in life is not unanswered prayer but unoffered prayer”. How can God answer your prayers if you do not first pray them?
The Bible has so many examples of men and women who prayed in the ordinary circumstances of their lives and God heard and answered them.
- Hannah prayed for a child – not for her personal benefit but to be of service for God. 1 Samuel chapter 1 verses 9-11.
- Nehemiah prayed at work when he heard sad news. Nehemiah chapter 1 verses 4-11.
- Jonah in his disobedience and from the belly of the whale, prayed. Jonah chapter 2 verses 1-9
Remarkably we read of the many times when Jesus prayed – read for yourself in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. So much so that his disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray.
Have you prayed today?
Always take time to pray, always take time to pray;
Morning and night and right through the day,
Always take time a prayer to pray.
Always take time to pray, always take time to pray;
Jesus will drive your trouble away,
Always take time to pray.
Happy Monday!
