Thought For The Day

God said, Let there be light; and there was light Genesis chapter 1 verse 3

Light is very important, so important that:

  • it was the first thing that God created,
  • when God saw what He had created He was pleased and
  • light brought separation from darkness.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day” Genesis chapter 1 verses 1-5.

Yet strangely, the Bible tells us: “men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God” John chapter 3 verses 19-21.

Light illuminates, brings energy and life. For that reason Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” John chapter 8 verse 12.

John, a disciple of Jesus, would write “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John chapter 1 verses 5-7.

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin, the Light of the world is Jesus!
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in; the Light of the world is Jesus!
