“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” Psalm 55 verse 22.

Life comes with many pressures, and often through no fault of our own.  Some pressures we manage, others overwhelm us and we are not the only ones to feel like this.  Centuries ago, David the shepherd destined to be king, had similar experiences and soon learned he need not suffer alone.  David knew that God cared and would help and he then wrote this lovely verse: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” 

The secret is to “cast”, prayerfully commit the load, the anxiety, the worry to the Lord and leave it with Him.

The promise is remarkable too “He shall sustain you.”  The Lord will help you through the difficulty.

Many years later, Peter the fisherman destined to be a Christian preacher and leader wrote similar words: “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” 1 Peter chapter 5 verse 7.  Peter knew that the Lord Jesus cared, and the Lord Jesus cares for you too.

Are you weary, are you heavy hearted? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus.
Are you grieving over joys departed? Tell it to Jesus alone.
