Verse For The Day

“Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed” ” Mark chapter 1 verses 41.

Jesus had seen so many people in his life and was overwhelmed at this time by the crowds who came to Him.  At the time of this incident the whole city came to him!

“At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him” Mark chapter 1 verses 32-34.

But the man in our verse could not come with the crowds because he was a leper.  For protection of the people, lepers were taken from their families and had to live alone outside their town or city.  So this man, the leper, had to come to Jesus on His own not knowing how he would be treated.

He only wanted one thing and begged Jesus “If You are willing, You can make me clean” verse 40. What else mattered to him but to be healed? But did Jesus care?

“Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Jesus loved him, had compassion for him, when most avoided him. Remarkably Jesus would even touch him and remained uninfected by the disease.

Jesus has not changed: He loves you, He cares for you, He wants the best for you; salvation from your sin. “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” Acts chapter 4 verse 12.

Happy Monday!
