King David was succeeded to the throne of Israel by his son, Solomon. He always did things in a ‘big way’, e.g. he built an impressive temple and palace in Jerusalem. However, he was also interested in the wisdom displayed by small creatures. We will consider four little creatures this week, which Solomon referred to as, ‘little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise’, Proverbs chapter 30 verse 24. He wrote, ‘The ANTS are a people not strong, yet they PREPARE their food in the summer’, Proverbs chapter 30 verse 25. There would be few weaker creatures than the ants; yet, they teach us the importance of being PREPARED for the future. They are busy creatures in the summer months as they gather food for the coming winter.
The Bible says, ‘PREPARE to meet your God!’, Amos chapter 4 verse 12. How much thought have you given to preparing for eternity? Like the ANTS, we would be wise to prepare while there is still time. We will only meet Him in heaven if our sins are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ, who died to save us. Like the ants – BE WISE – BE PREPARED!
