Many have asked that question and wonder what can be good about the day when an innocent man, the Lord Jesus Christ, died? The Bible tells us the death of Christ was no accident but part of God’s eternal plan to bring about salvation for the world. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

The old hymn written by Mrs C F Alexander says it all:

There is a green hill far away,

Without a city wall,

Where the dear Lord was crucified,

Who died to save us all.

We may not know, we cannot tell,

What pains he had to bear,

But we believe it was for us

He hung and suffered there.

There was no other good enough

To pay the price of sin.

He only could unlock the gate

Of heav’n and let us in.

Oh, dearly, dearly has he loved!

And we must love him too,

And trust in his redeeming blood,

And try his works to do.

Make this Friday your good Friday. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved Acts chapter 16 verse 31.
